Great day at the Warragul Arts Market yesterday! Thanks to Naomi and Robyn for selling our latest Pre-Scribe 5 and our new Summer Book Quiz. (Popular!) We also spent time talking to everyone who stopped by our table to talk about our group and made a few new contacts. The Arts Market is not only a good place to sell Pre-Scribe, but it is ideal to spread the word about our group. Thanks to the Bbaa for letting us be part of such a super event.
This Christmas and continuing over summer, Baw Baw Writers Network is selling a book-themed quiz for a mere $2. Twenty-five questions with a $25 prize. It's a cryptic style quiz that has been cunningly devised to short circuit any cheeky-cheater help that might come from Old Man Google. ;)
How to win? Pretty simple. Answer all the questions and send it back (address on the quiz) by February 28th. The quiz is ideal for - library-haunting relatives - teacher gift - neighbours - the kind who like to sit with a cuppa and a puzzle... - known trivia hounds - anyone interested in supporting our local writers group - stocking filler for your hard-to-buy-for fathers-and-mothers-in-law How to get your hands on a copy? - this Saturday (20th Dec) at the Warragul Arts Market - from the BBWN table at the this weekend's Arts Market (we are sharing the Bbaa main tent - thanks Bbaa) - email [email protected] and arrange a pay-and-pick-up deal or other arrangement (email, post etc) - January meeting of BBWN - January 15th at the Drouin Public Library from 7pm - BBWN table at the January Arts Market Thanks and good luck! Great things are happening. The group is growing slowly and making contact with other interested groups and activities. Open to any genre if provided for entertainment and self-improvement. Self-written poems are encouraged. Venue: The Bank Location: Victoria Street, Warragul Time: 7.00pm – 9.00pm Enquiries: Lily 0428 775 033 Email: [email protected] We've had a email today from Bianca Stapleton, the project officer of this competition (I also have the application form so if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll email it. Thanks: I'm writing to you to introduce the 1000 Words Competition. The vision for this project is to produce a collaborative exhibition of short stories and photographs. Writers are challenged to produce stories of significance and interest in exactly 1,000 words. Photographers are challenged to visually depict the emotional core or theme of a selected story in a single image. The final exhibition will bring together, for the first time, the written stories and the resultant photographic images that inspired them. In addition, the writers an...d photographers will also be revealed to one another. So the exhibition will be a meeting of two separate works and two separate artists, joining as one, for the first time. This project has been created through a writer and photographer deciding to challenge each other, and other creative people, to create something unique, something challenging and something of interest to the community and ourselves. The writing component of the competition is now open until 31 March 2015 and we would appreciate your support in circulating this information to your members of networks. Attached are a poster and a copy of the application form for this purpose.
