It was a wonderful evening with the regular attendees being joined by new people. the Traf location means that more locals up that end of things could attend. Thanks for the cosy cafe atmosphere, delicious drinks and writerly chat. Wayne also shared a poem of his about Birchip. Thanks again to Phoebe for being such a gracious host. The next social evening will be at Middels in Drouin (the usual place), on June 2, starting from 7:30.
THE 2016 UNIVERSITY OF CANBERRA VICE-CHANCELLOR’S INTERNATIONAL POETRY PRIZE
Now in its third year, the prize celebrates the enduring significance of poetry to cultures everywhere in the world. It marks the University of Canberra’s commitment to creativity and imagination. Prize entries may be submitted until 30 June 2016. PRIZES AND DETAILS The winner will receive AUD$15,000. The runner-up (second-placed poem) will receive AUD$5,000. All poems entered for the prize must be single poems that have a maximum length of 50 lines. Each entry of a poem costs AUD$20. Tomorrow night's social evening, will be happening in a new location. Instead of heading to Middel's in Drouin where we usually go, Phoebe from Cafe Obsession in Trafalgar has invited us to hold our social night in the space at her cafe. This is an opportunity for members who might not get the chance to come to Drouin to attend the social evening closer to home.
For those interested in attending, Cafe Obsession is located at 71 Princes Hwy, Trafalgar, 3824. The gathering will begin at 7.30pm. It will be a chance to talk all things writing and reading. The Woorilla Poetry Prize awards presentation will be postponed until Sunday 5th June, 2016. This will give everyone an exciting opportunity to enter their poetry. Whether you’re a junior entrant or from a writers group, the Woorilla Poetry prize is open to all who wish to submit their poetry.

Writers Vic members who live in regional Victoria (that's us) can enter the Regional Writers Competition which currently being run by Writers Vic. The topic is 'local colour'.
